The Story

Saddle shop. Artist's studio. Sanctuary.

Before it was a guesthouse, this building was a working carriage and saddle shop. Later, an artist made it their studio. We've kept everything that mattered — the exposed brick, the wooden rafters, the natural light pouring through industrial windows — and built around it a space designed for guests who notice the details.

The Loft is one of one. A ~2,000 sq ft open-plan retreat in the heart of downtown Winston-Salem, with a mezzanine bedroom, a spa bathroom, and a 14-person grand dining table that anchors the room. Stay a weekend, stay a month — it's built for both.

Open the door and the loft is yours. Morning light catches the brick. The library quietly insists you stay another hour. The wooden beams and vaulted ceilings offer inspiration for what's ahead. And when the city calls, it's a short walk to the best of downtown Winston-Salem.

Meet Ali.

The Loft is my passion project. I set out to do two things: preserve the original character of a historic building, and offer guests a stay no hotel could replicate. The brick, the wooden rafters, the architecture from a century ago — I kept all of it. Everything else, I choose to live alongside.

I host every stay personally. A stay here should feel less like checking into a property and more like being welcomed into a place someone cares about — from your first message to your final morning.
